The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air at Munno Para this month as Zarraffa’s Coffee officially opened its first South Australian store on Curtis Road, marking a major milestone for the national coffee brand and a new chapter for Adelaide’s northern growth corridor.
The new drive-through café, formerly home to First Things First Coffee, was reborn under the Zarraffa’s name following a multimillion-dollar acquisition earlier this year. Within its first six hours of trading, the Munno Para site served over 1,000 orders to 700 eager customers, as long queues of vehicles stretched along the road in anticipation of the brand’s debut.
A Defining Moment for Zarraffa’s Expansion
Founded in 1996 by Kenton Campbell, Zarraffa’s Coffee has grown into one of Australia’s most recognisable coffee franchises, with more than 80 stores across Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia. The opening at Munno Para represents a “defining moment” for the company as it begins its expansion into South Australia.
“It took a lot longer than I anticipated,” said Mr Campbell. “But here we are, seeing customers come in droves to try it out has been an incredible moment.”
The new store employs over 30 local staff and continues Zarraffa’s strong commitment to local communities, small business ownership, and quality coffee.
A Local Legacy Continues
The site carries a special legacy for Adelaide coffee drinkers. Previously operated as First Things First Coffee, South Australia’s first drive-through specialty coffee brand, the location was acquired by Zarraffa’s in April in a move that Campbell described as “a meaningful bridge between Zarraffa’s heritage and a beloved local coffee legacy.”
Munno Para franchise owner Bill Zavos, who returned to his hometown to lead the new store, said the community response had exceeded all expectations.
“We knew it was going to be popular,” said Zavos. “The amount of people who’ve told us they’ve been waiting for Zarraffa’s to come to Adelaide has been fantastic.”

Strengthening Adelaide’s Northern Retail and Commercial Landscape
Beyond its role as a community hub for coffee lovers, the Munno Para store reflects the ongoing transformation of Adelaide’s northern retail and commercial precincts. Situated within one of the city’s fastest-growing areas, Zarraffa’s presence reinforces the region’s emergence as a destination for quality retail and lifestyle brands.
With plans to expand further into Enfield, Salisbury Downs, Woodville Park, and Holden Hill, Zarraffa’s arrival is part of a broader pattern of investment and development strengthening the commercial ecosystem across metropolitan Adelaide.
A Taste of What’s to Come
Operating daily from 5am to 8pm, the Munno Para store combines convenience, accessibility and Zarraffa’s signature customer experience. As more stores open across South Australia, the brand’s presence will help enhance foot traffic and consumer activity within key retail corridors, aligning with ongoing development momentum across the state’s northern suburbs.
For Adelaide’s growing outer metro communities, it’s another sign of how quality national retailers and local investment continue to reshape the urban landscape.
Driving Retail Growth Across South Australia
Developments like Munno Para reflect the strength of Adelaide’s evolving retail landscape, one that Leyton Property continues to help shape through strategic, community-focused commercial projects such as Parafield Retail Hub and other landmark developments across the state. By attracting high-calibre tenants and fostering spaces where businesses and communities thrive, Leyton Property is helping define the next generation of retail and lifestyle destinations in South Australia.
