Nando’s Turns Up the Heat with South Australia’s First Drive-Through at Munno Para

As a part of Leyton Property’s Munno Para Stage 3 project, delivered in collaboration with Bella Build and Design, Nando’s has opened its first-ever South Australian drive-through. To celebrate the occasion, the global fast-food outlet gave away more than 3,000 free servings of PERi-PERi chicken and chips, as eager customers formed lines around the block to be one of the first to try the new community staple.

The Munno Para opening marks a significant first for the brand, as Nando’s’ inaugural drive-through store in South Australia. According to Nando’s Australia and New Zealand Brand and Customer Director Darren Hampton, the store is also the company’s tenth Australian opening this year alone, with more locations set to open before Christmas.

“Over the next three years, we’re turning up the heat on growth,” Hampton said. “We’ll be opening another 25 Nando’s restaurants across Australia and New Zealand and growing our workforce by 1,000 people.”

For South Australia, Munno Para represents the beginning of that growth story.

More Than Fast Food: A Destination Experience

Located on the corner of Main North Road and Curtis Road, the new restaurant blends drive-through convenience with Nando’s unmistakable personality. Inside, the fit-out elevates beyond a standard fast-food offering, featuring 12 original artworks by South African artist Blessing Blaai, alongside additional pieces positioned above the condiment station.

The Munno Para store also breaks new ground nationally, becoming the first Nando’s drive-through in Australia to offer the brand’s premium beverage range, including frozen cocktails and beers on tap for dine-in guests. Combined with bottomless drinks, free-flowing PERi-PERi sauces and Afro-Luso beats, the venue delivers a full hospitality experience for those choosing to stay and soak up the atmosphere.

Munno Para’s Growing Role in Adelaide’s Retail Landscape

The overwhelming response to opening day highlights the strength of Munno Para as a growing retail and lifestyle destination. As Adelaide’s northern suburbs continue to expand, demand for high-quality food, hospitality, and convenience-driven formats is accelerating.

Nando’s decision to launch its first South Australian drive-through in Munno Para reflects broader trends in commercial leasing and retail development, where national brands are increasingly targeting high-traffic suburban locations that offer visibility, accessibility and strong local engagement.

The opening also reinforces the appeal of drive-through formats, particularly in growth corridors where convenience and experience go hand in hand.

Delivered Through Strategic Commercial Development

Behind the scenes, the project reflects the importance of well-executed commercial property development in supporting both community needs and tenant success. Leyton Property worked closely with Nando’s to deliver a site that balances operational efficiency with brand identity, helping bring a nationally significant concept to South Australia.

As Adelaide’s northern suburbs continue to attract investment, developments like this demonstrate how thoughtful commercial leasing outcomes can create places that resonate with locals while supporting long-term economic growth.

A Warm Welcome

Strong opening-day demand has highlighted Nando’s Munno Para as a well-timed addition to Adelaide’s northern suburbs. The project aligns with broader investment in the area, where commercial development and national brands are increasingly focused on high-access, high-growth locations.
