Specialist Disability Accommodation: Building Homes That Transform Lives

At Leyton Property, we are committed to shaping communities that are inclusive, accessible and future-focused. One of the most important ways we are delivering on that commitment is through Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) – purpose-built housing that empowers Australians with significant disabilities to live independently with tailored support.

What is Specialist Disability Accommodation?

SDA provides housing options designed to meet the needs of people with extreme functional impairments or high support needs. These homes incorporate accessible design, assistive technology, and close proximity to essential services, giving residents the freedom to live with dignity and independence.

Backed by the NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) ensures eligible participants receive funding to cover the cost of their accommodation. With $700 million allocated annually for SDA, the government’s commitment guarantees sustainable support for residents while addressing Australia’s significant undersupply of suitable housing.

Currently, there is a 60% shortfall in SDA homes with more than 11,000 new places needed across the country. This highlights the importance of creating more housing options that not only meet demand but also improve quality of life.

Our Role and Partnerships

Delivering great housing takes more than construction expertise, it requires collaboration. That’s why Leyton Property partners with Avenu Specialist Disability Accommodation, one of the sector’s most trusted operators. Together, we ensure our projects are thoughtfully designed, accessible, and supportive of residents’ long-term needs.
